Most cruise passengers disembarking in La Guaira will visit the capital city of Caracas, set in a valley and best viewed from the 6,500-foot summit of Mount Avila. Cable car rides to the top are usually available. The best city tours visit La Catedral, Santa Teresa Basilica, the Capitol building, Simon Bolivar's birthplace and either Los Caobos or Los Proceres Park.
