On the western end of the Bahía de Tela lies the peninsula of Punta Sal, a beautiful area that has been designated a national park and offers a wonderful venue for nature and beach walks, swimming and snorkeling. The small idyllic bay of the island was once used as a hideout by notorious pirate Captain Henry Morgan. Manatees can be found in the bay, and dolphins are known to frolic in the waters just outside it.
