Originally a mining camp with seven saloons and a gambling house, Coldfoot as it exists today was founded by former Iditarod champion Dick Mackey. This rustic town is the ideal stopping point on a journey north to the Arctic Ocean or base for exploring the Brooks Mountain Range.
