Bangor enjoys one of the sunniest, driest climates in Ireland and offers beautiful scenery. The Coastal Path Walk takes you from Bangor's sea front to Crawfordsburn Beach and on to Helen's Bay, offering spectacular views across Belfast Lough. The town originally grew around Bangor Abbey, a monastery founded in 558 A.D. Parts of the monastery standing today are centuries old.
