Cruising the Mediterranean during the months of November to January offers several advantages over peak season summer travel. With fewer people visiting the region, you'll encounter shorter lines at many popular attractions, making it easier to explore each city's rich history and culture. Airports, restaurants and shops are typically less crowded as well. Lastly, you'll find cruises, flights and hotels available at deeply discounted prices when you avoid the peak season.

One thing to keep in mind -- you'll escape the summer heat by cruising at this time of year, but it will be cooler so it's important to dress accordingly.

To protect from financial loss in the event of an emergency, Vacations To Go strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance with every cruise. Cruise lines impose penalties for canceling or changing a reservation, up to and including the loss of the entire cruise price. Cruise lines are very strict about their cancellation policies and do not make exceptions, even under extreme circumstances.

It also is possible for illness or injury to occur during a cruise, resulting in medical bills from the ship's infirmary and/or the early termination of the trip. Most traditional health insurance policies do not cover cruise passengers traveling abroad.
