In southeast Romania, Tulcea guards the gateway into the Danube Delta Region, where the famous blue waters of the Danube spill into the Black Sea. Among Europe's most vibrant and diverse ecological regions, the delta contains twelve identifiable habitat types, including flooded reeds and willows, sandy beaches, and high forest.
