Tanjung Wangi is a gateway to two very different National Parks of Indonesia. West Bali National Park has terrain ranging from mangrove forests to dry savannah to rainforests. Trails allow hiking and bird watching in the forested areas. Local species include nearly extinct Bali Starlings, Water Monitors and Muntjak Deer. Patient observers might spot a colony of Ebony Langurs. Uninhabited Menjangan Island offers some of Bali's premier diving and snorkeling. Mount Merapi Park features the massive, highly acidic Ijen Crater Lake. Intrepid hikers may get quite close to the crater.
