Ramea is a lovely port perched on the second-largest island of the Ramea archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean. The town boasts a long and proud history as a fish processing and trading center. Perfect for those of adventurous nature, the somewhat-strenuous trek up 100 steps to the top of Man of War Hill is known for panoramic views of the Ramea Islands and Newfoundland's southern coast. Or explore the town's more sedate walking trails, perhaps stopping at the local craft shops that sell knitwear and other specialty items. Francois is a fishing community nestled precariously under the steep slopes of "The Friar," an imposing rocky outcrop 680 feet high. The harbor is actually a steep-walled, rocky fjord that resulted from glacial activity.
