Barentsburg is a Russian settlement on Svalbard near Longyearbyen. It started as a Dutch mining town in the 1920s, and coal is still mined there today. Visit the Lenin statue, the Pomor Museum or the commemorative chapel, built in honor of the 140 victims of a 1996 plane crash.
